I’ll definitely read more by this author. Obviously there is also a mystery, a very good one, let me say. Stop trying to set Robert up with women, for heaven’s sake!
Both, the characterisation and the plot, didn’t lack depth or 3-dimensionality. See 1 question about Amor En Retrogrado….

Second comes the mystery part. Then one rainy night, he gets a call that his ex has been beaten and shot in a parking lot outside a gay dance club. JD is a lecherous, whiny, choleric and obnoxious drunk who drowned in self-pity. As for Jorge, ugh, so not getting into that one.
Book Review – Amor en Retrogrado by A.M. Riley | Who Reads These Books?! Ummm – me?
Not sure what it was missing for me. But not once did he try and get help for the raging alchie aka, the love-of-his-life. Not the typical romance. There is a mystery here that took me most of the book to solve. I felt like Bill’s story was a way to show another side of how things could be between male lovers. Email required Address never made public. And doesn’t remember who has shot him outside a gay club and killed his friend. Robert took possessiveness into the scary zone. As JD slowly regains his memories, he recalls everything except the circumstances of the murder, and the reasons why he left Robert.
If Robert had been dating one of my friends, we’d be having the you-need-a-restraining-order talk. Not the typical romance. Interference comes from all sides. I can never remember the title. I am rather guilty of yb that first flush of romance between a couple and all that lovely anticipation.
With not many pages to go, I was still wondering how on earth they are going to patch rrtrogrado up, and if I should have read spoiler reivews in case there was no HEA. Obviously there is also a mystery, a very good one, let me say. There is also a hint of another dysfunctional relationship between Bill, and a teacher named Christopher — and if their story ever gets to see the light, I might have to prepare myself for another exhausting trip.
Amor En Retrogrado
Again, I would definitely recommend the book. JD is in critical condition aomr the man who was with him is dead. If you are looking for a light-hearted read this is not it.
I won’t get into describing the book much. I This is like 3 stories in one. It almost read like an added plot line rather than something placed there intentionally. I liked the mystery part well enough, although I must admit sometimes it felt like a carefully po I don’t write reviews as a rule, mostly because of my emotional reaction to books, and the subsequent disappointment with myself at my inability to coherently explain why I felt certain way. My mind and my body feel tired.
I enjoyed it for the flavor it gave the story but regretted not understanding it completely. As JD slowly regains his memories, he recalls everything except the circumstances of the murder, and the reasons why he left Robert. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. So yeah, the characters really ruined it for me, and I’m not sure I can be bothered to try the next one. Already reading the next book and wondering when the third will be out. JD and Robert are a fifteen years old committed couple.
I liked them together, but it was frustrating to read about them because they were both selfish pricks who couldn’t seem to communicate with each other. However focused on the emotional rollercoaster of Robert and JD, the story also includes a highly detailed history of Los Angeles and its particulars.
JD moved out a year ago after escalating fights with Robert, but everything is still registered with Robert.
D A fantastic read! Here I am, thinking that it will be another good murder mystery since my first experience with A. She writes murder mystery, romance and urban paranormal with GLBT characters. Thanks for telling us about the problem. This book shows us that we can love each other deeply and still hurt each other deeply. It was difficult to get a real understanding of JD as we see him only from the slightly skewered point of view of Robert.
As a result, my sympathies were mostly with Robert and I spent quite a lot of time feeling indignant on his behalf for the way JD treats him, especially as it is obvious that he is deeply in love with JD.
He simply can’t reach out to Christopher. D,’s head then were suddenly with Bill and his partner Kate, that felt a little off. She also manages to be a tough black woman police officer without fn into all the typical stereotypes.
