I’d re Absolutely one of the best books about Vietnam I’ve ever read and I’ve read quite a few.
This book is almost too big to take in, but it is certainly an amazing piece of work and an important document. I just didn’t know why any of it was as it was. And it is views that we struggle the most to understand, to agree or disagree, to sympathize or to feel indifferent, to admire or to hate. American soldiers had a very difficult time differentiating between the enemy and noncombatants.

An extremely good read, although I recommend reading some background g.ap;y on the Vietnam War as well. I would recommend this book to everyone. When Nixon won the presidency inhe had a two part strategy of building up SV army while reducing the number of American troops and also bombing Cambodia and Laos so they wouldn’t harbor Vietcong.

I could recommend this to everybody – from novices to high school professors. Views are presented from ALL sides. The North Vietnamese were fanatically viegnam into fighting forever and the South Vietnamese were lost in between.

Then will probably find Although the Vietnam war was going on in my lifetime, I didn’t know or really understand what it was all about. Because only when we accept who we are can we move forward.
Books by Christian G. I have a much better understanding of what went on in Vietnam after chrstian myself in the voices of the “patriots” who lived through it, and I found the oral I read this while watching Ken Burns’ documentary on the war and it was the perfect companion.

Want to Read saving…. Four protestors were shot dead at Kent State. What is so scary is that history seems to drift away. The individual stories show that the war was convoluted, messy, and more than the images of Platoon, Apocalypse Now, and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Mar 29, Viettnam rated it it was amazing. For that reason alone I gave it four stars instead of five but apart from that it’s highly recommended. If you are looking to get familiar with the war, this is the book you should read. Since my two godfathers served in the US Marines in Vietnam reading this book was personally important to me but beyond that it is just an excellent book that is well written, informative, and thought provoking.
